For a small town in this far flung corner of Oxfordshire, in the Vale of the White Horse, Faringdon has a rich seam of musical talent with nearly 2 dozen regularly gigging bands. The town regularly has numerous live music events including the well established '15 minute Club' at The Crown. This provides the opportunity for new bands to gain their first taste of stage performance in a friendly atmosphere as well as the chance for established bands to test out new material.

It is the theme of new material, as in brand new original songs, that has inspired the development of this new event the Big Faringdon Gig.

Yes we all love to sing-a-long to our favourite classics but without new songs being encouraged there will be no new favourites tommorow.

The BFG will only be featuring bands that play original music - no covers whatsoever.
